I used to think making games was mostly coding. Now I think it is mostly solving hundreds of tiny problems without letting the soul leak out.
A prototype becomes real the moment I stop asking if the idea is good and start asking what the player understands without explanation.
The best tools disappear. The best systems leave just enough friction to make decisions visible.
